Tenuta Casadei
BioIntegral®: a philosophy inspired by nature
In the heart of the Tuscan Upper Maremma, just a few kilometres from the sea and the medieval village of Suvereto, Tenuta Casadei expresses its vision of winemaking through the BioIntegral® philosophy, an approach that places nature, biodiversity and respect for the ecosystem at the centre of every decision.
For Tenuta Casadei, BioIntegral® is not simply a farming method but a true philosophy of life. It means cultivating the vineyards by promoting natural balance, eliminating synthetic chemical products, protecting biodiversity and adopting agricultural practices that preserve the land for future generations.
The estate has been designed as a living ecosystem, where vineyards, olive trees, animals, insects and people coexist in harmony, all contributing to the quality of the wines and the wellbeing of the environment.

Between the sea and the hills of Suvereto
The estate lies between the sea of the Tuscan Coast and the hills of Suvereto, in a landscape characterised by a typically Mediterranean climate, softened by sea breezes and marked by significant day-to-night temperature variations.
The vineyards grow on different types of soil: the hillside plots, rich in iron, magnesium and manganese, produce elegant, mineral and savoury wines, while the alluvial soils closer to the coast are particularly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
Alongside these international grape varieties, the estate also cultivates Syrah, Merlot, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Moscato and Ansonica, following organic and biodynamic practices that respect the rhythms of nature and highlight the unique character of each vineyard.

The winery: where sustainability meets tradition
Tenuta Casadei’s winery is built almost entirely into the hillside, using the earth and stone of Suvereto to maintain a naturally constant temperature while minimising its environmental impact.
The winery is powered by photovoltaic energy, while the wines ferment exclusively with indigenous yeasts and mature both in French oak barriques and traditional terracotta amphorae, reviving an ancient winemaking technique once used by the Etruscans and the Romans.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, and every stage of production—from fermentation to ageing—follows the principles of the BioIntegral® philosophy, with minimal intervention and a constant focus on expressing the authentic character of the territory.
Among the estate’s signature wines are Armonia, Sogno Mediterraneo, Filare 18, Filare 41 and Incanto Mediterraneo, labels that express the identity of the Tuscan Coast through international grape varieties and innovative winemaking techniques.

An immersive journey through biodiversity
Visiting Tenuta Casadei means exploring a true garden estate, either on foot or by horse-drawn carriage, following an educational trail that reveals the principles of the BioIntegral® philosophy and the extraordinary ecosystem of the property.
The route passes through vineyards, olive groves and areas dedicated to biodiversity, including the butterfly garden, the organic vegetable garden, the natural pond and the spaces where Comtois draft horses help reduce the environmental impact of vineyard work.
The experience concludes with guided wine tastings, allowing guests to discover the close relationship between the land, the vineyards and the production choices that make each wine an authentic expression of the Tuscan Upper Maremma.
One of the estate’s most distinctive landmarks is the Cannocchiale, a panoramic installation that frames the village of Suvereto and invites visitors to admire the surrounding landscape from a unique perspective, celebrating the profound connection between people and nature.
