Monte Solaio

A story of land, wine and passion

Between the hills of Campiglia Marittima and the sea of the Tuscan Coast, Monte Solaio was created to celebrate a land rich in history, nature and winemaking tradition.

The estate’s roots date back to the 14th century and today it encompasses 10 hectares of vineyards, olive groves and Mediterranean scrubland, where respect for nature and the rhythm of the seasons guide every stage of production.

For Monte Solaio, wine is the result of the harmonious relationship between the land, the people who cultivate it and their passion. Every bottle reflects a commitment to sustainable viticulture and a deep connection with the traditions of this remarkable territory.

A terroir overlooking the sea

The vineyards stretch across the slopes of Monte Solaio hill and the nearby Salvapiano vineyard, benefiting from a unique microclimate shaped by the proximity of the sea, the rolling hills of Campiglia Marittima and the surrounding Mediterranean vegetation.

Mineral-rich soils, cooling sea breezes and the mild climate of the Val di Cornia give the wines their elegance, freshness and distinctive minerality—hallmarks of the Tuscan Coast.

Each vineyard is tended by hand, following the natural cycles of the vine and placing great emphasis on grape quality and environmental balance.

Wine tastings among vineyards, landscapes and tradition

At Monte Solaio, a wine tasting is much more than simply sampling wine—it is an experience that tells the story of the territory through its wines, local products and breathtaking scenery.

For most of the year, tastings take place on the estate’s panoramic terrace, overlooking the countryside of Campiglia Marittima and the crystal-clear sea of the Tuscan Coast. During the winter months, guests are welcomed into the cosy tasting room, where exposed wooden beams, a large stone fireplace and a warm atmosphere evoke the authentic charm of rural Tuscany.

The estate’s wines are paired with platters of local specialties, creating a food and wine experience that follows the rhythm of the seasons while showcasing the finest products of the area.

Even the names of the wines reflect the spirit of the Maremma: raising a glass of Sacrestano or Re del Castello becomes a memorable way to experience the authentic character of this land.

Wine tastings, served with a platter of local specialties, are available from €30 per person.

A winery designed to blend with the landscape

Monte Solaio’s winery was conceived first and foremost as a working winery, perfectly integrated into the surrounding countryside.

Built using reclaimed local stone, it reflects the estate’s philosophy of respecting the landscape and preserving the character of the territory, where authenticity always comes before appearance.

Every visit offers the opportunity to discover the work carried out in both the vineyards and the winery, revealing how passion, experience and nature come together to create the estate’s wines.
